DIY ombre for the natural blonde

for months, i've watched beautiful brunette ladies work the ombre trend. and for months, i've wanted the ombre look, but one problem. i am a blonde. 100% natural blonde. i once dyed my hair brown, in college, turned maroon, it was bad, never doing it again, the end. i thought ombre was out for me. but it was calling to me - try, try, try! OK hair - let's try. and guess what? it worked and i love it. here's how i did it.

1. i bought the lightest ash blonde i could find. i am a golden blonde, so i figured the ash would be a good contrast. 

2. next i divided and tied my hair into 4 smaller sections and brushed each section thoroughly.

3. i mixed up the dye and applied it thoroughly to each section, stopping about once inch under each ponytail holder. make sure to save a little bit of the dye for the next step. i let this sit for about 25 minutes. 

4. after 25 minutes, i put the remaining dye on the inch of hair under the hair tie. i let that sit with the rest of the dye already on the bottom for another 15 minutes. then i rinsed out my hair and applied the conditioner.

once my hair dried, i was really excited. i had blonde ombre!!!

i'm the worst at self portraits, but here is some of the new do. i will definitely be keeping up with this look.
